LOCATION: Primarily in the Boston Area with some regional travel required. Position reports to the Project Manger and supports various contracts/projects for Decontamination Decommissioning and Environmental Services, LLC (DDES) in Peabody, Massachusetts.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The position is responsible for assisting the Project Managers with the planning and execution of health physics projects. These include, but are not limited to; routine health physics support, initial characterization surveys and MARSSIM final status survey activities. Health physics support duties may include assisting the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) with the implementation of site specific radiation protection programs. Health physics support duties may include white paper and/or document development for relevant health physics technical issues, development of site safety and health plans and radiation safety programs, internal and/or external dosimetry program implementation, dose assessment, implementation of MARSSIM methodologies for development of final status survey plans and post-remedial action reports and other health physics related issues as determined by client needs.
EDUCATION: Education: B.S. degree in Health Physics (or related educational field) or, significant equivalent experience
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to operate and interpret results from portable and fixed laboratory equipment. Assist in the implementation of technical elements of a site specific Radiation Protection Program. Instruct workers in safety procedures and precautions including the use of radiation detectors and protective gear. Monitor work environments for changes in radiological conditions and assist in perform decontamination procedures. Additional duties may include repairing equipment, creating reports and maintaining RPP records.
DESIRED SKILLS: Experience in the implementation of a comprehensive radiation safety program including but not limited to: internal/external monitoring program implementation, internal and external dose assessment, regulatory compliance, environmental monitoring, radiological hazard analysis, and evaluation of radiological data;
Experience using health physics related computer software (VSP, Microshield, RESRAD, D&D, etc.) a plus;
Current 40-hr HAZWOPER Certification.
Valid driver’s license required as a continuing condition of employment.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide integrated waste management support for decontamination and decommissioning projects. Capable of performing manual labor including lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects. Able to work well with team members and provide creative solutions to project challenges. Operates light and heavy equipment including, but not limited to: pumps, vacuum equipment, oil spill boom, generators, bobcats, fork trucks, etc. Handles various pneumatic, electrical and hydraulic industrial hand tools. Works with vibration-producing equipment such as hammer drills, saws-alls, nibblers, etc.
Routinely works in various levels of personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes respirators, skin, face, hand and foot protection in a multiple number of combinations. Works in various temperature environments, both indoors and outdoors.
Works in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents. Works in potentially elevated noise levels. Works at elevations including working from ladders, scaffolding and mobile lift equipment. Availability to work 50-hour work weeks.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalency. Construction Experience a plus. 2 or 4 year degree in Environmental Studies of related discipline (preferred).
